For sale is a Schleicher Ka 6 CR complete with its road-registered glider trailer.
Following a harder-than-normal landing, the owner decided not to proceed with further inspection and repair and consequently deregistered the aircraft from the German aircraft register.
Known damage
The visible damage appears to be very localised.
One rib in the left wing absorbed part of the load during the landing and became unbonded over a section of only a few centimetres.
The affected area is accessible through a small opening in the trailing edge, from which the rib and surrounding internal structure can be inspected. The opening also makes it possible to examine the inside of the wing more extensively using an endoscope.
No attempt has been made to repair the damage.
Despite the apparently limited nature of the visible damage, the aircraft is not being sold as airworthy.
It is therefore offered exclusively as:
• a restoration / repair project, or
• a complete source of Ka 6 CR spare parts.
Any possible return to flight must obviously be preceded by a complete inspection of the aircraft and an approved repair carried out in accordance with the applicable airworthiness requirements.
General condition
Apart from the above-mentioned damage, the glider is remarkably complete and the remaining components are in very good general condition.
Among others, the aircraft includes:
- Complete fuselage
- Both wings
- Complete control system and linkages
- Horizontal stabiliser and elevator
- Rudder
- Canopy in good condition
- Seat belts / harnesses
- Remaining cockpit instruments and fittings
- Control surfaces and associated hardware
- Various original Ka 6 components and fittings
The aircraft therefore represents an interesting opportunity either for somebody wishing to undertake a Ka 6 CR restoration project, or for an owner looking for a very complete collection of increasingly difficult-to-find original Ka 6 spare parts.
